About Us

Cardiovascular Specialists was founded in 1978 by Dr. Michael Chorches. It is the mission of our group to provide comprehensive cardiac care in a comfortable and personalized setting.

Cardiovascular Specialists now has seven cardiologists sub-specializing in the major disciplines of cardiovascular medicine. We practice medicine from a single office, located on the St. Joseph Hospital campus. All non-invasive testing (echocardiography, stress testing) is performed at The Center for Cardiovascular Imaging, which is directly across the hall from our office, and is run by our physicians. Invasive procedures (cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, stents and pacemakers) are performed at St. Joseph Hospital.

Our imaging center has been certified by The Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Nuclear Medicine Laboratories (ICANL) and by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories (ICAEL). These credentials ensure the highest quality patient care and diagnostic testing.

As a group we realize the value of preventive cardiology and thus have developed a separate Preventive Cardiology Clinic. This clinic focuses on nutrition education, development of exercise programs, smoking cessation and the management of complex cholesterol disorders and difficult to control hypertension.

We also have a strong commitment to medical research. Our physicians are all active members of the Atlanta Heart and Vascular Research Group. This gives us access to cutting-edge technology as well as the latest pharmaceutical advancements.
